What is llms.txt, and is it worth having?

llms.txt is an emerging, informal standard: not every AI crawler reads it yet, and no major AI provider has confirmed it affects citation decisions. It's a minor, low-cost signal worth having, not a guarantee of anything. See the glossary entry for the full explanation.

It's the same engine as the homepage check. Enter your URL and we score your site across four categories, then generate the llms.txt (and anything else relevant: JSON-LD, FAQ content) as part of the results.

Will the generated file include facts you don't actually know about my business?

No. We only include what we can confirm by reading your site. Anything we can't verify is flagged for you to fill in rather than invented. That's a hard rule, not a nice-to-have.

Where do I put the generated llms.txt file?

Save it as /llms.txt at your site's root, the same way robots.txt works: most hosts let you upload it directly, or your developer can add it in a few minutes.
